Engineers Australia Mutual Recognition Agreements

The International Engineering Technologist Agreement was signed in 2003 by the participating economies/countries. The parties agreed to start setting up a system of mutual recognition of engineering technologies. The Engineering Council and the EIT have professional registration agreements with six international partners. Learn more about representation. International Recognition Engineers Australia has entered into mutual recognition agreements with other professional engineering organisations abroad. These agreements promote, facilitate and expand the relationship between Engineers Australia and the two organisations for the benefit of both parties. Engineers Australia also operates chapters in the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia to support members who have moved to these countries. Engineers Australia is also the joint host with the World Federation of Engineering Organisations of the World Engineers Convention in 2019 (WEC2019). Dr Kanga led the bid to organise this event in Melbourne in November 2019. This will be an important Society of Scholars event for Engineers Australia during the centenary.

The event will include the WFEO General Assembly which will bring engineers from around the world to Melbourne. For more information, see www.wec2019.org.au The Professional Development Program (PDP) aims to help members develop their practical skills and obtain charter membership with Engineers Australia, and help employers improve their workforce and human resource management. Throughout the PDP, participants and the company will be supported by workshops, ongoing assessment, tutoring, feedback and advice. Engineers Australia evaluators carry out extensive work to verify and provide feedback to participants. At the end of the program, the professional interview offers Chartered Status Aspirants the opportunity to present their competence to practice independently to an experienced panel of demanding engineers. Engineers Australia is aimed at all companies that employ engineers, regardless of the size of their technical staff. In 2003, 80 companies had signed a corporate partnership agreement to make the PDP available to their employees. In 2007, Engineers Australia signed over 250 corporate partnership agreements, which include 4500 graduates who are now participating in the PDP. Participating organizations are often seen by young engineers as preferred employers.

Chartered Professional Engineers of Engineers Australia will be automatically included in the apec Engineers register as soon as they meet the following criteria: Build your professional reputation and industry knowledge by joining 5,000 other members who take on civil service and voluntary duties each year. Local and national groups participate in advocacy activities and raise the profile of engineers, facilitate professional connections, learning opportunities and increase engagement in engineering activities. EA`s relationships with developing countries (especially given our location in the Asia-Pacific region) have also allowed us to give something back to the profession by taking on these countries as signatories to various multilateral agreements. If more countries participate in these agreements, our members will ultimately have increased mobility opportunities, which is a significant benefit to members.
